Roy Oliver was fired on Tuesday because on Saturday night Jordan Edwards, a 15 year old coming home from a party was blamed for "acting aggressively" so a Roy took fire and killed him. The shot was aimed for his head and shortly after he was shot he was pronounced dead. I didn't know how I felt about this because I believe that police brutality is, again another big problem in our world. I don't know why policemen think that they have all the power so they can go and shoot people if they don't listen. I mean, yah, you do have an authority over us but it doesn't give you a right to go around and do whatever you want to us. When you take off your uniform and you go to your kids soccer games, a stranger wouldn't know that you are a policemen. You would just look average like everyone else at that soccer game. Going back to Jordan, people across the country were outraged. He was a teenage boy, unarmed, didn't resist arrest, and wasn't a suspect so how did he end up dead? "Jordan was a straight-A student and a standout athlete who was beloved by his schoolmates." the Mesquite Independent School District, where Jordan attended school said that he "was a good student who was very well-liked by his teachers, coaches and his fellow students." Just because he was a good student, doesn't make his life more important than anyone else's. Anyone's life is fragile and his death wouldn't have been less tragic than if he was less admired.

This week in class on Monday we watched a video called "Bullied". It was dedicated to a thirteen year old boy who hung himself because he was called gay. The video started out with a grown man saying that he knew he was gay since he was seven years old. His uncle was gay and he had a Cadillac which Jamie loved. (The main character is Jamie) Jamie, who was at his grandmas house at the time, told his grandma that he was gay. She smiled down at him and said, 'honey, you don't have to be gay to have a Cadillac.' When he got to middle school, he noticed something had changed. People were now calling him names and he didn't know why. He hadn't told anyone his secret besides his grandmother. What was he going to do. Eventually Jamie went to his parents, which new about him being gay already, who also went to the administration. The principle said 'boys will be boys' and all the kids who were involved didn't get any consequences. Jamie had ran away two times before he went back to his school where something big happened. He went to school and was minding his own business studying for a test. A couple boys came over and one asked Jamie to fight him. When Jamie refused, the boys knocked the books out of his hands and when Jamie went to pick them up the boys started to kick him. One of them threatened to kill him if he told. Jamie asked his parents if they can put a lawsuit against his middle school principal and high school administration. Jamie's parents not knowing what to do they totally agreed with Jamie. Jamie went to court calling up many people to the bench. The only person who lied was the middle school principal. Jamie won his court trial and everything was good again. Jamie inspired kids and saved some lives on the way too. It was very inspiring, trying to do what's right to make others future better.

According to apple.com, The Global Fund uses 100% this money to finance HIV/AIDS programs all around the world. When I heard that Apple had raised over $130 million through the sale of their (RED) products I was amazed. I'm not very familiar with theses diseases but I know that they are a pro Belem in countries that can't afford the medicine for it. I looked up what these diseases are and they looked pretty important. HIV is a infection that is transmitted through things that I don't need to know about right now or through childbirth and is passed from mother to child. This week in ELA my class had presentations on different parts of books that we all had to read. I had a book called "Sugar Changed the World" and the others had "Tracking Trash". They were both educational on many levels. At first I didn't think I made the right decision because our chapters were also longer than the others but I knew that if I wanted a good grade then I would have to try my best and take lots of notes. When it came down to the day I had to present, knowing myself I should've checked how many note cards I had because I was missing some. Now I know de next time I should probably type it and have someone proof read it because their were a lot of grammar errors. I had some trouble but I tried my best to get through it without crying my eyes every time I had something missing I would look up at my teacher to see if she noticed and she did every time. When I thought about this I remembered my cheer coach telling me, 'if you make a mistake on stage, smile through it like nothing happened because the second you make a face they will look at you for the rest of the routine to see if you make another.' Once I realized that I looked at her she knew that I made a mistake and my grade would go down. Now I know I should rehearse in front of my family whenever I have a presentation. Type to enter text Today is International Women's Day all around the world. I want to take time in my blog post today, to appreciate what some women have done to make the future more equal. Did you know that women perform 66% of the world’s work and produce 50% of the food. Yet they earn just 10% of incomes. International Women’s Day events are held worldwide on March 8. Many schools and businesses will have specific lessons based on a few women who changed the world with their actions. They will learn about influences, important women in their society, and in some countries kids bring small gifts to all of the women who have impacted their lives. The majority of the worlds one point three million absolute poor are women. Women also continue to be victims of violence all around the world. The International Women’s Day logo is in purple and white, features the symbol of Venus, which is also the symbol of being female. International Women’s Day celebrates women’s achievements worldwide and through history. According to The Telegraph "The organizers of the Women's March on Washington have launched a new campaign: A Day Without Women. They are encouraging women in the USA and worldwide to strike from work on 8 March in protest at the economic inequality, prejudice and insecurity faced by women in the workplace. They are also encouraging women to wear red to show their solidarity with the movement. " In 2011, former President, Barack Obama, proclaimed March to be ‘Women’s History Month’.
This week in ELA my class was assigned a writing prompt; who would you trust Moreno drive you around, a ninety year old or a ten year old. I chose the ten year old because if they are responsible enough to get a drivers license why won't you trust them to drive you. Ninety year olds can't see, can barley walk, and go very slow. I believe that both are dangerous but I would trust one of my close friends than my grandma to drive my car. Yes the ten year olds could get "road crazy" but once they learn the importance of driving safety, they can make driving fun yet safe. After we had ten minutes to write by ourselves we went with our clock buddies to discus. Mrs. Todesco said that we would have a "quasi debate" on which option is a better choice. We went back and forth listening to each other, with a few interruptions, and in the end we all decided not to trust either. Grandparents are very fragile, though they have experience they need many naps during the day it wouldn't be safe. At least the ten year old would be hyper. The parent would have to be responsible on the sugar intake but I would trust him/her.I'd rather be safe then in a hospital because my ten year old cousin/ninety year old grandma crashed the car. That's only my opinion, if you would like confront me at school with what your opinion is. Please stay safe on the road, if you want to learn more about driving safety click the button below.
This week we learned about something called Ethos, Pathos, and Logos. They are rhetorical strategies that everyone uses every single day.when you think about the Super Bowl, something that comes to mind are the commercials. They have to use persuasion to try to make you buy their product. Ethos is the authors credibility, believability, and/or likability. This can come from inside or outside of the text. If you notice ethical and ethics both have the same root word. Let's say you have a bad headache and you go to the doctors because she has credibility that you can trust, but if your friends offered you something you wouldn't know what to do. You know you can trust the five men on on ESPN because they have experience, it's the right thing to do. Pathos are the feelings you get when you see a commercial. Advertisements can make you feel fear, love, patriotism, hatred, joy, humor, or guilt. Using pathos you can also be manipulated. Logos mean the logic or reason behind the advertisement. Members, polls, facts, and statistics are examples of the use of logic. An author would use ethos to show his audience that he is a credible source and is worth listening to. Authors use pathos to invoke sympathy from an audience; to make the audience feel what the author wants them to feel. Authors would use logos would be to cite facts and statistics, historical and literal analogies, and citing certain authorities on a subject
This week is Catholic school week at my school. Today Thursday February 2, 2017 was grandparents day. What that means is everyone's grandparents come to your class and you get to interview them to find out things you didnt know. Both my grandparents came to school and I got to ask them questions that i wanted to find out. My grandmas full name is Herachik Davoudian and she wanted to be a counselor when she grew up. She was born in Iran, married at fifteen, and moved to America with two kids at the age of eighteen. When she was younger she played volleyball and met my grandpa at school. She currently has three dogs and four children. This year is her fiftieth anniversary with my grandfather. My grandfather was also born in Iran and is currently seventy eight years old. He has five sisters but one passed away some time ago. He loved to play soccer, he was a welder, and his full name is Khamshabe Koochof. He and my grandma never made it to college but followed his sisters to America so his children could live a good life. When my grandparents first came to America they lived in New York and my dad was about my age when my his youngest sister, Julie, died at the age of four. When that happened they moved to Montebello and my dad met my mom in high school. I learned a lot from what they told me and i will always learn from it
jLast week Donald trump began his presidency and immediately started to talk about building a wall on the southern part of the U.S. Building this wall could start any month from now, but planning for it has stared immediately. He confirmed his plans to build the wall with federal funds and wants to seek reimbursement from Mexico, a project Mexico had already rejected. He promises that their will be a payment in a form, it a complicated form. Trump stresses on Wednesday, his first articulate, that he would 'help Mexico' by taking away illegal information from countries farther south than Mexico. They want to stabilize on both sides of the boarder and he also understands that a strong and healthy economy in Mexico is very good for the Untied States. Some people call Trumps actions "extremist, ineffective, and expensive" and accused him of lying about immigration. Trump also made a new criteria for determining which undocumented immigrants should be prioritized for deportation. Any undocumented immigrant convicted or is simply charged with a crime. When Obama as president only undocumented immigrants convicted of a felony, serious misdemeanor or multiple misdemeanor were considered for deportation. As far as materials go building the wall one by one would take to much time and effort to make this choice optional. Another ways would be pouring liquid cement high along the entire southwestern frontier i, but as the cement dries in those hot temperatures, the wall could become weak and the project could be crumby. If a cinder block is too difficult and a pour over wall is too weak the experts concluded that pr-castes concrete panels wold be the best option. Each panel would probably be 'twenty feet high and five feet underground. According to CNN. I was so bummed to find out that this was our country now.
